View from the Top, Victoria Peak

This weekend was clear (and by that we mean not just sunny but also....not smoggy!) so we decided to walk from the Central district over to the Victoria Peak Tram terminal. Along the way we randomly came across St. John's Cathedral.  It's a beautiful church and the grounds around it are green & so peaceful.

This church's traditional architecture looks slightly out of place amongst Hong Kong's modern sky scrapers but at the same time, it seems so perfect being right there.

Old with the new

Being in a big city, we're getting pretty used to seeing (ahem and hearing!) protestors. They are like fixtures near Melissa's office as it backs up to several large banks & a lot of government buildings. Though from what we understand, no one in the government actually works in those particular buildings, they're more like historical landmarks. The dim sum restaurant we went to a little while back was in one of those buildings!

Anyways, a new first - on the way to the tram terminal we passed a lady with tons of banners, yelling into a loud speaker that " ... the CIA used mind control... CIA caused 9-11 due to lack of funding. The CIA brainwashed Osama Bin Laden..."  Wow, what a nut case!! Hope we don't see (or hear!) her again!

The line for the tram was not very long, but getting on the tram was another matter.  For such small people they have the whole pushing and shoving to get what they want down.  Though Melissa has been here just 2 weeks longer than me, she's already just like local -  she just pushed right back and didn't give even an inch while I let everyone on. I guess I need just a little more time.

The Peak terminal is packed with restaurants (like Bubba Gumps) and numerous shops.  The view gives you great perspective on how massive the city is and how many residential high rises there really are.  There are some really nice trails here - I have no doubt we'll be back here really soon to check them out!
