My Mom...in Hong Kong!

Mom's Hong Kong Double Decker Bus Tour!
My mom arrived in Hong Kong on Wednesday night! We are so happy to have her here with us and we're quite enjoying playing both host and tourist - taking her around to some places that even in 9 months, we hadn't yet ventured out to see!

I'll post pictures of Mom's first few days later....IT issues at the moment.

In the meantime, here are some pictures from our weekend.

Overlooking the China Sea

On Saturday, we took a double decker bus tour around the outskirts of the city. Our favorite spots were Stanley (for the beach and the markets) and Aberdeen (quaint fishing village with the main attraction being of course - Jumbo Seafood Restaurant.)

Jumbo Restaurant!

Wait...this isn't Lake Conroe?

At Jumbo, we had dim sum for lunch - yes, my mom too...with chopsticks no less - well kind of! See pictures below and you be the judge! I am so proud of her! It wasn't until we were almost done that she finally resorted to the disposable fork (which we took from Starbucks that morning - in anticipation of that very moment - that and well, we saw her with the chopsticks at dinner the night before (at the Temple Street night market)!

For someone who doesn't even like "American Chinese" food (not even rice!), she is doing awesome.  There hasn't been anything that she hasn't tried yet! Dumplings? Buns? Singapore Style Noodles? Chinese Tea? Yep - she tried them all! Way to go Mom!

Is she going to starve?

It's Tea Time!

Saturday night, we took headed over to Kowloon - AKA - the other side of the harbor.  Kowloon is definitely a great place to head in the evenings for great food, great shopping and of course....great views of  Hong Kong Island!

  1. I'm real proud of your mom, too. She has an adventurous spirit. I'm sure she did better w/the chopsticks than I would have. . . and good for you having the fork at the ready.

Looks like y'all are having a great time
