After two days on the bus, we were ready to do some walking and had a map and a list of destinations to check out, and as you can see from these pictures, the weather was absolutely beautiful! Sunny with a cool breeze - perfect!First we headed to the "Castle" (what we call a fort, the locals insist is a Castle), which was situated in the center of the city's Central Business District. Once you walk through the Castle's main gate, it is like you enter another world! A huge open grassy area and impressive colonial architecture.

After getting (a little!) lost, we finally arrived at our next destination. I'm not sure of the official name but I'll call it the colored house neighborhood. We had seen these brightly colored houses from the bus and had to come back for a closer look. It was explained to us that because the African and Indian slaves were not given any personal choice on what colors to wear and the colors available to them were bland and boring that when they were freed, they wore bright colors and painted their houses to proclaim their new found means of self expression.
After all that walking, we worked up an appetite and walked down to V&A Waterfront for dinner.
The Greek restrant was highly recommended so we decided to give it a go! As everything on the menu looked good we ended up going with the mixed feast, and as you can see it was most definitely that - a feast!

Very colorful buildings! And that was indeed a feast.
